Dealing With Fame Book

Shapiro’s book is an interesting insight into the thoughts and feelings of an individual who, like many of us, feels at once connected to the world through the medium of the internet and other ultra-modern forms of telecommunications as well as isolated and removed from the physical bonds that used to tie society together at a more visceral level. The book is written in the first-person and details the narrator’s journey from relative obscurity to high-status recognition. The narrative is throughout peppered with the author/speaker’s philosophical insights and commentary on post-modern existence and he proves himself to be an individual of strongly-held opinions. The author states from the onset that he is concerned with relating an emotional experience and this approach colours the treatise in its entirety. In part, it reads as a sort of guidebook for those who achieve high status in society and how they process this status in a psychological and emotional way. It describes the author’s own unique experiences but is sufficiently universal to appeal to a wide range of readers.
